As part of the ZUMBau ROAD Show 2025, we were visited yesterday by Rudolf Domscheid (Managing Director of the Zentralverband des Deutschen Baugewerbes e.V.), Dirk Siewert (Managing Director of the Hauptverband der Deutschen Bauindustrie) and Dr Karl-Heinz Bässler (freelance employee of ZUMBau GbR). They were accompanied by our Head of Training Ernst Stephan and one of the responsible course instructors, Kai Heinzmann.
Our facility is one of the first training centres in the carpentry trade to be certified as a ZUMBau test centre - an important contribution to the qualification of crane operators.
The visit focussed on exchanging views on previous and future collaboration, presenting current developments at ZUMBau and having an open discussion about suggestions and potential for improvement.
During a tour of the building and our workshops, the guests were able to gain a comprehensive picture of our work. The lively and constructive dialogue between the representatives of ZUMBau and ourselves was perceived as very valuable by both sides.
The Bildungszentrum Holzbau regularly offers the ZUMBau crane driving licence, which is subsidised by ESF funds and by BG BAU with 50% of the seminar fees. This qualification is also recognised by courts as proof of suitability to operate cranes.
ZUMBau is a joint qualification initiative of the umbrella organisations of the construction industry - the German Construction Federation (ZDB) and the German Construction Industry Federation (HDB) - in cooperation with the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the construction industry (BG BAU). The aim of ZUMBau is to continuously improve the quality and safety of training for construction machinery operators.
Course content of the ZUMBau crane operator licence "Certified bottom-slewing crane operator":
