Our mission statement
Our mission statement describes what drives us and what we stand for. It is the basis of our actions - in training, further education and in our daily interactions. As a training centre for timber construction, we combine traditional craftsmanship with a future-oriented educational culture and social responsibility.
Preamble
The non-profit vocational training centre of the Baden-Württemberg carpentry and timber construction industry (BFW) is a non-profit limited liability company.
The core tasks of the non-profit vocational training organisation are, on the one hand, the inter-company training of trainees in the carpentry trade and the timber construction industry in Baden-Württemberg and, on the other hand, the further education and training of employees and entrepreneurs in this industry.
The implementation of guidelines, regulations and new technologies, as well as developments in building materials, in seminar and course programmes for the members of the state and federal association is one of the central tasks.
This is done in close co-operation with the HOLZBAU Baden-Württemberg state association, the Bundesverband Holzbau Deutschland (German Timber Construction Association), with the supplier industry and in construction industry networks and universities. The BFW supports the organisation and further development of timber construction in Europe through our participation in various committees at European level and the development of transnational seminar concepts.
The mission statement of the non-profit vocational training centre is thus the foundation on which the values and convictions of our educational institution rest.
The Management Board and the management would like all employees, members and partners, sponsors, seminar participants, trainees and training customers to support these values and convictions.

Ethical principles
Respect
We treat all people with respect and honour their rights and dignity.
Without prejudice
We are obliged not to judge anyone on the basis of origin, gender, religion, sexual orientation or other characteristics.
Confidentiality
It is our duty to treat information and data confidentially and not to pass it on without the consent of the person concerned.
Honesty
We act truthfully and honestly, without deception or fraudulent behaviour.
Fairness
We ensure that decisions and the allocation of resources are fair.
These ethical principles form the foundation of our actions and guide us in creating and maintaining an ethical, responsible and respectful community in the non-profit vocational training organisation.
Guidance
We want BFW to be managed in a way that involves all employees. Sustainability and innovation should be an integral part of our decisions and actions in all areas.
We make this possible by involving employees in decision-making processes and through a meaningful and comprehensive reporting system. A well-founded exchange of information is ensured through regular employee and staff appraisals, meetings and active dialogue and discussion in the Education Committee.
We encourage and challenge our employees with the aim of developing our organisation sustainably and thus continuously strengthening the timber construction industry.
Staff and management are actively involved in the committees of the state and national association, as part of association events, young talent campaigns, in discussion groups with universities and the supplier industry and in construction industry networks.
We measure the success of our commitment by the increasing acceptance and uptake of our further education and training programme, the growth rates of the timber construction sector in general and the number of trainees in our trade. By constantly evaluating and analysing statistical material, we record and assess our own development and that of our customers, suppliers and service providers.
Team
Our master trainers are training advisors and mentors. They cover the complete range of training programmes in timber construction, develop new training concepts as well as further education and training courses for building with wood. Proven and newly developed methods and tools are used for this purpose.
Our employees at the Timber Construction Training Centre develop and work on national and international projects focusing on timber construction, digitalisation, occupational safety, energy-efficient renovation, sustainability and innovations in the construction industry. They cultivate and maintain contacts with universities, engineers and architects, other multipliers and association committees. In this context, connections are established, existing contacts are deepened and our knowledge is passed on at all levels.
In the areas of occupational safety, technology, corporate management and career advancement training, we continue to develop existing content and address the needs of our customers in the form of new seminar topics, further training programmes and participation in various examination boards.
Our employees are responsible for seminar and course supervision as well as providing accommodation and catering services to very high standards.
Our administrative and building services staff ensure the smooth running of training and further education courses and maintain our high-quality buildings and technical equipment. Our aim is to always equip our trainees with modern work technology and materials.
We support all employees with targeted further training measures and the opportunity to obtain further training qualifications and deepen their specialist knowledge. The continuous improvement of our employees' professional and pedagogical skills is the basis for successful action.
Occupational safety, health and environmental protection measures are fundamental components of our organisation.
We measure the results in group, individual and target discussions with our employees as well as on the basis of evaluations by trainees, course and seminar participants and external customers.
The public
We want to improve and strengthen the image of traditional carpentry and modern timber construction through targeted public relations work. We achieve this by communicating the importance of the trade to apprentices and offering them a comprehensive, up-to-date and continuous further education and training programme. Identification with the profession and a clear awareness are promoted and developed during training and cultivated in all further training courses.
Through our initial and further training, as well as the "Timber Construction Project Management" degree programme, we give learners a foothold and future prospects in society. This in turn recognises the value of the trade through our training.
In principle, we share our knowledge with everyone involved in construction.
Processes
A solid management system helps to assess potential risks and make the right decisions in good time. The QM system is therefore applied holistically and recognised by employees as a fundamental approach.
The core objectives are smooth information and communication processes, as well as the autonomous behaviour of all employees.
Networking
We maintain partnerships with the state and federal associations of the carpentry and timber construction industry, with construction industry associations in Germany, authorities and ministries, chambers of crafts, research and teaching, the supplier industry, international bodies, Timber Construction Europe (TCE) and numerous institutions from a wide range of educational and timber construction sectors.
We strengthen our innovation potential through targeted cooperation with our partners, through active collaboration in networks with vocational training centres, through cooperation with vocational schools and through joint projects with universities and a wide range of activities worldwide. We promote communication between companies and professional organisations and act as a competent point of contact for timber construction companies.
We measure the results of our co-operation with our partners through systematic surveys and project results as well as informal events and discussions.
Environment
Responsible and sustainable use of resources is a matter of course for us: we rely on solar energy and renewable raw materials for the operation of our buildings.
We are committed to environmental and climate protection and thus fulfil our socio-political responsibility towards future generations.
