New expertise for multi-storey timber construction: Become a "Biberacher Holzbau-Konstrukteur" now!
18 Aug 2025

Timber construction is booming – especially in multi-storey buildings. More and more projects are focusing on sustainable and innovative construction methods using timber. This also increases the demands on planning, coordination and implementation. The multi-storey residential construction sector in particular requires specialised professionals who are proficient in the complex processes involved. This is exactly where the part-time seminar "Biberacher Holzbau-Konstrukteur" (Biberach Timber Construction Designer) comes in.
In cooperation with the Biberach University of Applied Sciences (Wood Construction Project Management programme), the seminar provides future-oriented knowledge for experienced designers, master carpenters, construction technicians and civil engineers. It is aimed specifically at practitioners who have mainly designed single-family homes and now want to move into multi-storey timber construction.
The designer as a key player
The timber construction designer plays a central role in the planning process – they are the link between planning, technology and implementation. Early involvement and a comprehensive understanding of building physics, legal and technical requirements are therefore crucial. Seminar participants can expect in-depth content covering:
- Organisation and working methods in modern timber construction
- Digital data exchange and CAD skills
- Sound and fire protection
- Integration of building services
- Elementation, prefabrication, logistics and assembly
The course concludes with a practical project, which is presented in a final presentation.
Register now – and get started with funding!
The seminar will take place on six dates (two days each) between October 2025 and May 2026. Participants from Baden-Württemberg can receive up to 70% of the seminar fees from ESF funds – a worthwhile step towards further professional development.

Tip: It's worth listening!
In the podcast episode "What's happening in timber construction" (#23 Richtfest – the podcast from the Timber Construction Training Centre), Wolfgang Schafitel talks about current challenges in the industry, the differences between carpentry and timber construction, and the role of digitalisation. The new seminar is also discussed in detail.
