A day for the craft - living carpentry tradition in the museum village of Kürnbach
13. Aug 2025
Last Sunday, we were able to be part of a very special experience at the Historical Craftsmen's Day in the Kürnbach museum village.
Together with over 30 traditional craftsmen and women, we were able to familiarise visitors with the traditional carpentry trade.
Knowledge was on display at various stations: round timber was hewn into beams by hand, dykes - historic water pipes - were drilled and wooden gutters were made with an adze.
A special highlight was the erection of an old half-timbered wall, which was ceremoniously crowned with a topping-out ceremony. The well roof for the @campus_galli_messkirch project was also erected and historical models of our craft were exhibited.
Young visitors were also catered for: they were able to get active themselves with the "Timmy sawing".
We would like to thank everyone involved and the museum village of Kürnbach for the opportunity to showcase our tradition in such a beautiful setting.
